Springfield Defeats Men's Basketball

Box Score

It was a tough loss today for the Emerson Lions who put up a great effort against Springfield.

The Lion's were on fire on the three point line, making 56% of their shots. Emerson's Sean Duffy put up a total of 11 points and 3 rebounds, leading the offense. Austin Pinckney was close behind with 9 points and 4 rebounds of his own.

The first half showed Springfield pulling ahead, outscoring the Lions 32 to 18 thanks to a powerful shooting offense. They made near 50% of their 2-point and 3-point shots, while also going 6/6 on free throws. The Lions tried to fight off the offense, but would go into halftime down 14.

The second half would show the Lion's tenacity on the court. After losing the first half Emerson came out firing, draining 77% of their three-pointers and outscoring Springfield in the half. It was during this half that Duffy would make his 11 points, hoping to make up the deficit. Unfortunately, the first half advantage for Springfield would prove too much to overcome, with the final score being 70-57.

The Lions are now 10-12 in regular seasons, and 4-8 in the NEWMAC. They look now to their next game at MIT on Wednesday, February 8th at 8:00pm.
