Women's Basketball Falls to Ave Maria

BOSTON, Mass - Emerson Women's Basketball played host to the Ave Maria Gyrenes who traveled to Boston all the way from Florida. Ave Maria asserted their dominance on the court as the defeated the Lions 59-42. With the win Ave Maria rises to 3-1 overall, as the Lions fall to 1-2.


Emerson started out strong in the first quarter, maintaining a slight lead until Ave Maria's Jasmine Bateman hit a 3 pointer with only 5 seconds left in the quarter to snag them the lead 14-11.


Ave Maria's lead grew and shrank throughout the course of the game, but the Lions were never able to retake the lead.


Stat leaders for the Gyrenes include Taylor Lindsey with 14 points, followed closely by three teammates, Lauren Gillingham, Yvanessa Vincent, and Annie Artise who all had 11 points. Leading in rebounds was Gillingham with 15 defensive and 20 offensive rebounds.


Leading for the Lions was Charlie Boyle with 10 points, followed by Kelsey Johnson with 9. Leading in rebounds was Sierra Ducey with 4 defensive and 5 offensive.


Next up for the Lions is a NEWMAC conference matchup on the road against WPI on Nov 28th at 5:00pm
