BOSTON, Mass - It was the Annual Dig Pink Match, which helps support the fight against breast cancer, as Emerson Women's Volleyball hosted the Lasell Lasers. Despite several close sets, the Lions were able to best Lasell, winning 3-1. With the win Emerson is now 11-10 overall, while remaining 2-6 in the NEWMAC. The Lasers fall to 8-19 overall and stay 2-6 in the GNAC.
Emerson jumped out to a quick lead in the first set going up 12-4. Both teams continued to trade points, but the lead proved to be too much as the Lions closed the set 25-18.
In the second set Lasell rallied back and although it was close, they finished the set 25-21 thanks to a service ace by Michele Canestro.
Emerson fired back in the final two sets, winning 25-22 and 25-14. Stat leaders for the Lions include Jules Augustine with 18 kills and 5 block assists. Fara Cohen and Sam Harton had 22 and 21 digs respectively. While Elaine Nichols had 29 assist. Annie Hall rounded out the squad with 6 kills and 3 block assists.
Leading for Lasell was Olivia Addington with 13 kills, while Lauren Piper had 20 assists and 3 service aces. Caitlyn Garcia had 21 digs and an ace.
Lasell's next matchup is on October 24th as they travel to St. Joseph's for a Tri Match, starting at 10:00am, that also features Norwich.
The Lions return to action on the Saturday the 24th as well as the host a Tri Match against Framingham St. and Bates. First match against Framingham set for 11:00am.
