Box Score BOSTON - In the conference opener against the Babson Beavers, the Emerson Lions put up a valiant effort, but ultimately were unable to outscore the visiting Beavers in the second half. It was a neck and neck race going into halftime with the Lions standing only three points behind the Beavers. Leading the charge for Emerson was Junior guard Tyson Hallowell with 8 points for the night. Also stepping up for the Lions was Austin Pickney with 7 rebounds and 6 points.
In an aggressive and passionate matchup, multiple fouls were traded back and forth between both teams, but the game changer came in the second half when Babson went on a 25 - 2 point run that ended up cementing their victory. The Lions never gave up though with Corey Fitz putting up 4 points late in the second half. Honorable mention goes to freshmen Michael Sheng who scored a 3 pointer with only seconds left in the game bringing the final score to 67 - 43.
The Beavers are now 1 - 0 in the NEWMAC and the Lions fall to 0 - 1. Their next game is Saturday, January 10th at Coast Guard Academy. Tip-off scheduled for 1:00pm.
