Lions Fall to Babson

Box Score

Tonight the Emerson Lady Lions lost on the road to the Babson Beavers, Final Score 78-55.

Emerson had trouble getting their offense going from the start, only scoring two points and giving up sixteen in the first six minutes. After calling a timeout, Emerson's reserves came in and played well, outscoring Babson 15-8 thanks to Elizabeth Horan's three-point shooting and Sierra Ducey's defense. However, the reprieve proved short-lived as Babson soon responded through a combination of free-throws and jump shots, ending the the half with an 11-point lead (37-26).

That lead proved too much to overcome in the second half, where Emerson saw itself go further in the hole. The Beavers were helped out considerably by their ability to get to the get to the free-throw line consistently, earning 16 points from the charity stripe as opposed to Emerson's 6. Babson also had three starters score in double-digits, with forward Jennifer Narlee one steal away from a triple-double.

One area where the Lady Lions did distinguish themselves was their three-point shots, shooting 42% (7-17)  from deep compared to Babson's 20% (2-10). And while their starters struggled to find their groove, they saw strong bench play from Horan and Ducey.

The Lady Lions play next at Springfield on Saturday (1/24) at 1:00pm.
