Box Score The Lady Lions rise to (4-3) in the NEWMAC and (9-6) overall as they defeat Mount Holyoke. This win keeps Emerson tied for 3rd place with WPI in NEWMAC conference play.
With a quick basket by Catherine Cloutier to start the game, the Lions took the lead. The first half showcased back to back 3-point shots by freshman point guard, Maya Savino giving the Lions an 8-3 lead. While Emerson kept the lead, a 4 minute lull kept both teams scoreless until freshmen forward Sierra Ducey broke the ice with a layup scoring a total of 9 points in the game. Mount Holyoke's Amber Legare lead the Lyons with 6 points and 6 rebounds in the first half, but it was not enough as the half ended 23-18 in Emerson's favor.
In the second half, the Lions came out strong again starting off with a 3-point shot by Emily Cameron. Senior captain and lead scorer of the game, Kristin Brice played well in the paint seeing 13 points and 6 rebounds on the game. Brice was steadily trailed by Mount Holyoke's Kate Karraker who finished the game with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Karraker pressed on offense but The Lyons couldn't close in on Emerson who went on a 15 point run to end the game 46-30. The Lions play next at Babson College on Wednesday, January 21st at 7pm.
