The Emerson Lady Lions played tough but could not bring home the win against Coast Guard Academy this past Saturday afternoon.  Facing their second NEWMAC loss, the Lions trailed the Bears for the entire game, final score 54-66.  Emerson moves to a 7-5 record on the season, now tied with the Bears and WPI in conference play sharing a 2-2 record in the NEWMAC.

Kristin Brice came out strong for the Lions putting in  5-points for Emerson tying the game 5-5 in the first 2 minutes. The Bears took the next 7 minutes and went on a run getting 16 points with help from Leigha Steinback, but Emerson fought back, seeing a quick 5 points from Maya Savino and another 4 points from Kelsey Johnson.  The half ended with the Lions down 26-33.

At the start of the second half Emerson's Catherine Cloutier, put in a quick shot, the only made basket for both teams in the first 4 minutes of play.  The Bears broke the streak with a shot from Meghan Fornaro, giving her 9 points total on the game.  Janissa Delzo then put in 4 points putting the Lions behind the bears only 36-40.  Despite another 8 points put up by Cloutier, the Bears held their lead and the game ended 54-66.  

The Lions play next at Home on Tuesday, January 13th against Wheaton College(8-5, 4-1) at 7:00pm.
