WORCESTER, Mass. – Amanda Linzmeyer and Brittany Schoellkopf unleashed 16 kills apiece Tuesday night as the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team floored the WPI Engineers 25-14, 28-26, 19-25 and 25-22. With the win the Lions are now 9-6 on the year and 2-1 in conference play as WPI falls to 8-6 overall and 0-3 in the NEWMAC. 

Set one saw Linzmeyer take the reigns as she crushed six kills in the set for an .857 average while her fellow Lions put down two team blocks with assists from Katerina Salgado and Elizabeth Reid. Lindzmeyer also put up five digs in the set as EC rolled to a quick 25-14 win.

The second set was to be a bitter fight between both teams with 12 tie scores and eight lead changes keeping it as close as possible and sending it to extra points to decide it. Lindzmeyer was on point again with three more kills and seven more digs while Elaine Nichols put up 12 assists to help give EC the two set edge 28-26.

The Engineers fired back in set three though, even as Schoellkopf threw down five kills in the set for a .500 average, but she was matched by WPI's Jenny Wallace with five of her own and a .556 attack percentage. A WPI team block and some costly EC attack errors proved potent against the Lions as they gave up a set 25-19. 

Emerson only needed four sets to recoup against the Engineers though as Lindzmeyer and Schoellkopf combined for 11 of EC's 15 kills in the set for a .209 team attack average. Nichols again was on point with 12 more assists as the Lions finished with a 25-22 win.

Next up the Lions travel to Springfield to continue NEWMAC action this Saturday with a 1 p.m. match in Springfield, Mass.
