Volleyball Drops Heartbreakers To Clark And Colby-Sawyer

WORCESTER, Mass. – A phenomenal day by Jules Augustine and Amanda Linzmeyer wasn't enough to pull off a win as the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team fell to Clark 17-25, 25-20, 29-27, 25-20 and 15-13. The Lions also fell on the day to Colby-Sawyer 25-18, 17-25, 12-25, 25-15 and 15-10. The Lions finish the 2014 season with a 15-17 record and 4-6 in the NEWMAC.

The Lions started off hot against the Cougars in the first match of the day, swinging .357 as a team with Brittany Schoellkopf leading the way with five kills for a .714 average as EC ripped to a 25-17 win. Set two saw Clark fire back though with Marina Ramos leading it this time with four kills as Clark put up a .209 average which the Cougars adding four aces and a block to take the 25-20 win.

Set three was a battle down to the wire for the Lions as they battled eight tie scores and a lead change as the Lions outhit Clark .217 to .163, but the serving game changed the tone as the Cougars collected four aces to barely pull off a 29-27 win.

Emerson fired back to push Clark against a wall in set four as the Lions crushed .226 team attack average with Amanda Linzmeyer dropping four kills while EC posted four service aces to take a 25-20 win. It would come down to the wire in set five as the teams pushed five tie scores and a lead change as Emerson won the team attack average, but the Cougars took the final 15-13.

In match two the Lions took on the Colby Sawyer Chargers who swung .165 on the day. CSC's Jackie Keating crushed 18 kills in the match which EC's Jules Augustine came close to matching with 15 of her own. The Lions had three teammates floor 10 plus kills, while also posting 10 aces. The Lions couldn't hold on though as they were edged in five sets for the second time on the day.

The matches wrap the Lions 2014 season. The Lions would like to thank their fans and families for all their support throughout their 2014 campaign.
