Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. – Jules Augustine, Amanda Linzmeyer and Brittany Schoellkopf combined for 16 kills on the night, but the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team fell 25-12, 25-8 and 26-24 to Babson Tuesday as the Beavers won their 15th straight match. The Lions are now 13-12 and 4-3 in conference play while Babson improves to 20-5 overall and 8-0 in NEWMAC action.
Set one saw Babson take control early and never look back as the Beavers swung .310 with Lorraine Mackiewicz leading the way with four kills and an .800 average. Sam Harton for the Lions tried to help EC's cause with ten digs, but the Beavers rolled off with a 25-12 win.
Set two saw the Lions fall out of sync as the Beavers crushed a .393 average while adding two blocks to stifle EC's offense. Seven BC players added kills to their tallies as well as two team blocks while the Lions struggled on the offensive side of the ball. Babson was on-point on defense as well with 18 digs en route to a quick 25-8 win.
The Lions fired back in the third set, hitting a blazing .500 as a team with Brittany Schoellkopf leading the way with four kills and a .667 average. EC as a whole floored 12 kills with only one error as they forced ten tie scores in the set and four lead changes to push it to extra points. The Beavers didn't back down though as their fourteen kills and four service aces were enough to push them past EC with a 26-24 final.
The Lions travel again this week as they play Simmons Thursday night. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
