Linzmeyer Dominant As Volleyball Closes UMass Boston Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Amanda Linzmeyer stepped up for nine more kills Saturday afternoon as the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team fell 3- 0 to Trine and 3-1 to Colby Sawyer in the UMass Boston Invitational. The Lions are now 13-11 on the year after the weekend.

 Set one saw Annie Phillips hit .500 with five kills, while TU put up two more blocks to stifle the EC attack . The serving game for Trine made the difference with a 25-12 win. Set two saw the Lions storm back but six different Beacons floored balls to take the 25-18 win.

Carley Searles put up 30 assists in the set even as Elaine Nichols set up 17 assists as the Lions stormed back for a tough 25-14 final.

Linzmeyer crushed nine more in the next match as Nichols posted 22 assists. The major swing was Sam Harton and her 28 digs even though EC lost 20-25, 17-35, 19-25, 6-25.

Next up EC heads back to NEWMAC action next week as they face Babson next Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Babson, Park. Mass.
