Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Brian Hurley's 28 point effort wasn't enough to tow the line Saturday afternoon as the Emerson Men's Basketball Team fell in a tough 85-80 loss to the Suffolk Rams at EC's Brown-Plofker Gym. With the loss the Lions are now 6-4 on the year as Suffolk improves to 4-6.
The first half saw both teams showcase some sharp shooting, each posting better than 50% in field goals in the half. Brian Hurley came out to throw down on the Rams as he put up 18 points and five boards in the half. Michael Thorpe ran the offense, with his four assists helping to forge EC's attack in the half. The Rams came ready to play though as they shot 58% with Sam Nwadike dropping 14 points and Jake Meister adding in 12 to head into the half up 44-42.
The second half saw Eli Kell-Abrams come off the bench to shine as he went 4-for-5 from the floor and a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range to lead the Lions while adding three assists to his tally. The difference was made on the boards though as Suffolk out-rebounded Emerson 25 to 13 for nine second-chance points as the Rams were able to just hold the line for the 85-80 win.
The Lions will hit the court again on Monday as they set to travel to Wheelock to take on the Wildcats in a 6 p.m. match-up in Boston, Mass.
