Set one saw Jessica Hamilton make her return to lead the floor with four kills in the set while the Lion D helped make the difference with two blocks as Hamilton posted a solo and an assist. The Lasers made the effort on defense with four team blocks, but after a slow start the Lions surged ahead in the end for a 22-25 win.
Set two saw another head-to-head battle with five tie scores and two lead changes as Jessica Hamilton and Julianna Augustine both ripped three more kills in the set. The Lion defense fired up for another couple blocks, this time with Kat Rice leading the way with two assists. Giuli Frendak took the lead with the offense, putting up eight assists to put Emerson ahead 2-0 with a 25-21 win.
Set three plagued the Lions again as they started off strong taking the lead early on with a six point cushion looking like they were lined up for a sweep. The Lasers had other ideas though as they went on a six point run of their own to take the lead as Abigail Rollins threw down four kills on her own while the Lion offense struggled to right the ship, falling 25-23.
That was all the Lions were having of that noise though as they fired up for the fourth set, swinging .200 as team with Julianna Augustine dropping four kills on the Lasers to lead EC. Kat Rice did work again at the net with two more block assists as the Lions rolled off with a 25-22 win to close it.
Emerson will return to their home court again this Saturday as they set to host Wentworth and Lesley in a tri-match this Saturday. First match is set for 10 a.m. at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym in Boston, Mass.
