Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – An effort that saw four different Lions put up double-digits in points fell just short Tuesday night as the Emerson Women's Basketball Team fell 62-54 to Suffolk in the GNAC Quarterfinals. With the loss the Lions record holds at 13-13 overall as Suffolk improves to 20-6.
The first half saw the Lions emerge sluggish which would prove to be fatal as they shot only 23% from the floor to Suffolk's 43%. SU's Jennifer Ruys led the way for the Rams in the half as she lead the floor with 15 points and six rebounds
Shannon Norton started to heat up a bit for the Lions in the half though, dropping six to lead EC while Catherine Cloutier and Kristin Brice both posed four points and four boards. Turnovers would cost the Lions as well as they gave up eight for nine points as Suffolk headed into the break up 35-16.
The Lions came out renewed though in the second half to make Suffolk work for it as the rookies took control with Janissa Delzo leading EC with 13 points and Kelsey Johnson coming up with nine. The Rams refused to relinquish the lead though as Shelby Santini put up 10 to keep SU with the edge.
With the bench pouring in 22 points in the half, the Lions looked poised to push the Rams, but found themselves tripping up, giving Suffolk seven second chance points and 10 points in the paint as SU held off the Lions 62-54.
With the loss the Lions 2012-2013 season comes to a close. The team would like to thank all their fans, families and friends that supported them throughout their campaign.
