Box Score 2 WELLESLEY, Mass.- Kat Rice led the Lions on the day with 18 kills as the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team split the day with a 3-0 win over Eastern Nazarene followed with a 3-0 loss to Wellesley. On the year the Lions are now 9-7 overall.
First up the Lions took on the ENC Crusaders where the Lions rolled on ENC with a 25-13, 25-13 and 25-12 win. In the match, the Lions swung .257 on offense and put down eight blocks as they made quick work of the Crusaders. Kat Rice stepped up for EC on offense as she floored 10 with Giuli Frendak, Kat Westbrook and Alyssa Thorne following suit with nine apiece.
In addition the Lion's game seemed to be on point as the team put up eight service aces with Alyssa Thorne posting three of her own. On defense Jamie Morgan led the way with 13 digs on the set en route to EC's seventh 3-0 sweep of the year.
Next up the Lions took on host Wellesley in a hard-fought 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 loss to the Blue. Emerson's defense kept them alive in the match as they put up seven blocks in the set to keep them in it.
Kat Rice and Alyssa Thorne split the lead in kills for the Lions as they floored eight each while Kat Westbrook nipped on their heels with seven of her own. Errors seemed to creep up on the Lions though as they weren't as sharp in the second match of the day as the Blue were just able to take advantage of the errors in the 3-0 win.
The Lions return to GNAC action this Wednesday as they travel to Lasell for a 7 p.m. match in Newton, Mass.
