BOSTON, Mass. – A stifling Emmanuel defense gave the Emerson Women's Basketball Team little room to breathe Saturday afternoon as the Lions turned the ball over 28 times in the game. The Saints tandem of Meghan Kirwan and Fiona O'Dwyer also stepped up to combine for 41 points in the 77-55 win. The loss puts Emerson at 6-11 on the year and 3-2 in the GNAC while Emmanuel improves to 12-4 on the year and a perfect 6-0 in the conference.

The Lions got off to a sluggish 12-2 start that they'd never recover from as the Saints came out blazing on Emerson, shooting 45% to Emerson's 29% in the half with two Saints collecting double-digit points to start.

Olivia Connors and Kristin Brice scrapped together six points apiece, but the Saints forced 14 turnovers and plastered themselves all over Olivia DiNucci to keep the Lions offensive attack at bay while heading into the half up 37-24.

Round two spelled a similar fate for the Lions as well, even though their shooting improved drastically to 48% with Connors and Brice again doing work with nine and eight points respectively.

But the Saints bettered the Emerson offense in nearly every way, hitting 18-37 shots and collecting ten offensive boards to put up 14 second chance points in the half. Emmanuel also dominated in the paint with 40 points in the game in the paint alone as the Lions couldn't rally the troops enough to keep pace with the surging Saints in the loss.

Emerson returns home this Thursday to continue conference play as Rivier comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off for Faculty & Staff Night at Emerson Athletics.
