BRISTOL, R.I. – Even with the Lions out-blocking the Hawks five to three on the night, a lackluster offensive night doomed the Emerson Women's Volleyball team as they fell to Roger Williams in a straight sweep Tuesday night. The Lions fell 25-19, 25-15 and 25-17 to the lethal Hawks to move to 10-4 on the year while RWU improved to 15-3 overall.

The first set saw Jessica Drumright step up to try and lead the Lions as she swung .300 for four kills as well as pairing up for a block in the set. The effort was not to be though as the Hawks spread the floor well with a .250 team attack percentage and 12 kills in the set. The Lions couldn't keep pace though as RWU kept edging ahead bit by bit to pull off the 25-19 win for the lead.

While set two may have been a 25-15 final, the Lions scrapped even harder in the set as they pushed eight tie scores and seven lead changes in the set. Their missteps on offense were costly though as they matched themselves in kills and attack errors with six apiece while the Hawks beefed up the defense with three team blocks to take off with a 2-0 lead.

RWU wasn't letting this one past three though as the Hawks pounced on the Lions putting up an 8-2 run on the set to take off in a full sprint with the lead. EC's defense made them work for it though as they posted three team blocks with Kat Rice and Alexa Krakowiak both putting up solos in the set.  It wasn't enough to stop Kelsey Twarog and Marybeth Torpey who took home five more kills in the set to finish the match with a 25-17 win.

The Lions remain on the road this weekend as they resume GNAC play heading north to face Norwich on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Northfield, Vermont.
