Volleyball Unable to Rally; Falling to Babson 3-0

Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass. – After a fatiguing Wednesday night match against Amherst the Emerson Women's Volleyball were unable to rally to hold off the Babson Beavers Thursday night at Babson Park. Alexa Krakowiak led the Lions with seven kills for a .222 average but EC ultimately fell 26-24, 25-11 and 25-21 to fall to 5-3 on the season with Homecoming on tap this weekend.

Set one saw the Lions come out with everything they had with the middles playing a straight nasty set with five blocks to keep close to the Beavers. They were unable to contain BC's Meg Flaherty though who blasted seven kills in the set. While the Lions gave Babson a challenge, pushing them to extra points, they finally gave up the ghost in a 26-24 loss.

Set two saw the Lions in disarray as they piled up six attack errors and three reception errors giving the Beavers the green light in the match as they started to swing into action with a .208 average as Flaherty again brought the noise again with a .571 average with BC running off with a 25-11 win to head 2-0 into set three.

The Lions recouped in the third set as Alexa Krakowiak decided to take the reigns for EC, putting five on the floor in the set to light a fire under the Lions tails. The Lions still couldn't contain the swings of the  Beavers again though as they pulled the score to a tie twice and swung a lead change, but couldn't cap the win as BC ended the match with a 25-21 win.

The Lions will take only a mere day of rest off as they gear up for a long day of GNAC rivalry Saturday where they'll host Anna Maria College at 10 a.m. and Rivier at 2 p.m. in Boston at Emerson's Brown-Pfloker Gym. The games will be broadcast live on Emerson Sports Network.
