Second-Half Surge By Endicott Leaves Women's Basketball Behind

Box Score

BOSTON, MA—A lack of rebounding and too many turnovers ultimately led to Emerson Women's Basketball's demise, as the Endicott College Gulls rode the hot shooting hand of sophomore Samantha Crough and forced 19 turnovers en route to a 67-49 win. The loss marks the sixth in a row for Emerson after starting off the season 3-0 while dopping them to 3-6 on the year as the Gulls push to 3-3.

Junior Olivia DiNucci was the high scorer for the Lions, chipping in 16 points, all of which came in the second half. Sophomore Olivia Connors scored 12 points and also pulled down nine rebounds in the losing effort.

The Lions found themselves on the wrong end of a 32-24 score at halftime, collecting only 10 rebounds compared to 21 by Endicott and turning the ball over 12 times. The Gulls' defense did their homework, limiting DiNucci to only one shot attempt and zero points through the first 20 minutes.

The second half saw Emerson come out with a sense of urgency, scoring four quick points and turning an Endicott turnover into points. This was short lived as the Gulls went on a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to take the momentum and seemingly put the game out of reach.

Crough finished as the game's leading scorer with 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Endicott also received double-digit point totals from sophomore Jordan Ferland (14) and junior Jen McBrien (10) as they collected 20 second chance points as a team.

Emerson's next game is Saturday at the Brown-Plofker Gymnaisum against Bowdoin College. Tip-off is slated for 2pm.
