David Suvak

David Suvak has led the Emerson College Women's Soccer program since 2010, continuing a coaching career at Emerson that spans more than two decades. Throughout his tenure, Suvak has established a culture centered on competitive excellence, academic achievement, leadership, and student-athlete development.

Under Suvak's leadership, Emerson Women's Soccer has reached significant milestones, highlighted by the program's first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship in 2022 and its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. The historic championship season included a No. 1 regional ranking and a No. 24 national ranking. The Lions also captured the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship.

Throughout his tenure, Suvak has emphasized the development of student-athletes both on and off the field. His players have earned 38 NEWMAC All-Conference selections, 14 All-Region honors, and one United Soccer Coaches All-American recognition. The program's success reflects a commitment to recruiting, individual player development, tactical preparation, and building a competitive team culture.

Academic achievement remains a defining characteristic of Emerson Women's Soccer. The Lions have consistently earned recognition through the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, including achieving the highest team grade-point average among NCAA Division III women's soccer programs in 2018 (3.72). More recently, the team received Emerson College Academic Team of Champions recognition with GPAs of 3.87 in 2024–25 and 3.82 in 2025–26. The program has also earned multiple United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards, recognizing its commitment to integrity, respect, and fair play.

Beyond competition, Suvak has encouraged his student-athletes to make a meaningful impact in the community. Under his leadership, the program has raised more than $45,000 in support of charitable organizations, including Light the Night, Athlete Ally, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These initiatives reflect his belief that collegiate athletics provides opportunities to develop leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to serving others.

Prior to becoming Head Coach of the women's program, Suvak served as Associate Head Coach of the Emerson Men's Soccer program. His extensive coaching background also includes leadership roles with Massachusetts Youth Soccer and New England Rush.

As President and Technical Director of New England Rush from 2010 to 2019, Suvak directed the organization's strategic growth, coaching development, and competitive programming, expanding the club from five to 27 teams. He also served as a Massachusetts Olympic Development Program (ODP) Head Coach from 2010 to 2023, identifying, evaluating, and developing elite youth players for regional and national competition. Previously, as Assistant Technical Director for Massachusetts Youth Soccer, he contributed to statewide coaching education, technical programming, and player development initiatives. His ODP experience has also included involvement with the East Region program.

A native of Winchester, Massachusetts, Suvak was inducted into the Winchester Sports Foundation Hall of Fame in 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College in 1988, where he was a three-year starter and captain of the men's soccer team. He was named team MVP in 1986 and helped lead the Eagles to three Big East Championship Tournament appearances.

Following college, Suvak played six seasons of semi-professional soccer with the Lowell Lusitanos in the Luso American Soccer Association (LASA), serving as team captain for four seasons. During his playing career, he helped the club win multiple league, Cup, and Super Cup championships and earned two team MVP honors.

Suvak holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National A-Senior Coaching License, a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, and a United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma. He also earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the Boston Architectural College, bringing an additional background in architectural design, planning, and project management to his professional experience.
