The Lead: The Emerson Women's Volleyball Team earned their fifth NEWMAC victory of the year with a sweep of the Smith Pioneers on Tuesday night behind 10 kills from Freshman Rebecca Polsky (Boca Raton, Fla.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emerson started off the game strong, winning 7-2 early behind five straight points on the serve by Caroline Bond. The Lions continued to build their lead in the first set, extending it to seven at 14-7 on a service ace by Albany Alexander (Orlando, Fla.). The Lions closed out the set comfortably, taking the first set 25-17 and leading the match 1-0.
- The Second set saw the Lions jump ahead early again, taking a 13-8 lead on a Sakura Regan (Campbell, Calif.) kill. Once again, the Lions maintained their lead and closed out the set with a 25-17 score, this time on a kill by Jillian Kay.
- The third set was much closer for the two teams, with the teams trading points and leads throughout the set. The Lions looked and Pioneers were knotted at 18 late in the set. Emerson rattled off seven of the eight next points to close these at 25-19 and take the match 3-0.
- The Lions play a non-conference match on Thursday against the Simmons Sharks starting at 7:00pm at the Brown & Plofker Gym.
