Women’s Tennis Sweeps Clark For NEWMAC Victory

The Emerson Women's Tennis team traveled to Worcester, Mass. to take on the Clark Cougars on Friday, sweeping the NEWMAC opponent for their second conference win of the season.

Alisha Parikh (San Francisco, Calif.)  and Sabrina Jacobs (Demarest, N.J.) opened up the doubles matches by taking a hard fought battle 8-6 over Anna Gates and Elizabeth Garfield.  Annie Woodbury (Salinas, Calif.) and Eliana Flores-Barber (Long Beach, Calif.) won the second doubles pairing 8-1 over Jillian Skulsky and Katie Bensah.  Thea Nagle (Mechanicsburg, Penn.) and Alex Weingarten (Carlsbad, Calif.) won the final doubles pairing 8-2 over Chloe Dunnell and Lilly Meadows. 

In the singles matchups, Parikh defeaed Skulsky in the top pairing 6-0, 6-1.  Jacobs and gates faced off in the second pairing, with Jacobs winning 6-2, 6-1.  Woodbury won a hard fought first set against Garfield 7-5, before taking the second set 6-2 and winning the third pairing.  FLores- Barber took on Elizabeth Tchanotouri, winning 6-3, 6-0.  Nagle and Weingarten won their two matches, with Nagle defeating Maggie Tarbox 6-3 in both sets.  Weingarten defeated Kaylyn Landahl 6-1, 6-2, giving the Lions he sweep.

Emerson gets back on the court on Tuesday, taking on Wellesley at 4:30 in their final match of the year.
