The Emerson Women's Tennis Team defeated the Franklin Pierce Ravens on Saturday, opening their Spring campaign with a victory. Emerson improved their record from the fall to 3-2. The Lions won two of the first three doubles, with Annie Woodbury and Eliana Flores-Barber defeating Grayson LaCroix and Sarah Rich 8-4. Alex Weingarten and Thea Nagle defeated Kelly O'Donnell and Shelli Safran by the same score, taking a 2-1 lead into the singles matches.
Emerson and Franklin Pierce split the singles matches 3-3. Franklin Pierce won the top three singles matches before the Lions roared back to take the last three. Flores-Barber, Weingarten, and Nagle carried the momentum from their doubles matches into their singles matches. All three won in straight sets, marking the 5-4 victory for Emerson.
Women's tennis is off until they travel to Florida, opening their spring break trip against Kings (Pa.) on March third.
