Women's Soccer Tagged With 3-0 Setback At Babson

The Lead: The Emerson women's soccer team shouldered a 3-0 shutout loss backed by goals from Babson's Emma Dineen, Kathryn Clark and Maggie McCabe in NEWMAC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field. 



  • Babson outshot Emerson, 20-10, and also held the 6-3 corner kick advantage over the Lions. 
  • Junior Jess Frost (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) registered four of Emerson's 10 shots, including one shot on goal. 
  • In net for the Lions was freshman Mary Elizabeth Allen (Miami Shores, Fl.), who allowed three goals and came away with five saves through 90 minutes. 
  • Kathryn Clark and Maggie McCabe scored two of Babson's goals, while Emma Dineen contributed 
  • a goal and an assist. 
  • Babson net minder Maddison Gierschick earned the win for the Beavers and was a perfect four for four in saves. 



  • Despite both Emerson and Babson each sending up nine shots attempts, the Beavers found the back of the net twice as the Lions faced a 2-0 deficit entering the half. 
  • Clark put in Babson's first goal at the 11th minute mark and was followed up by Dineen's net at the 27th minute as her unassisted goal made its way into the goal from the left side of the box to close out the Beavers first half scoring. 
  • Emerson surrendered one goal to Babson within the second half at the 64th minute to put the final at 3-0 in the Beavers favor. 
  • On an unassisted net from McCabe, she fired in the third Babson goal from the left side of the box and into the upper corner. 



  • Emerson travels to Clark on Tuesday, October 24 for its final road game of the 2017 regular season that is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start. 
  • Babson wraps up home action and will host Wellesley on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
