The Lead: The Emerson Lions Softball Team fell to the Babson Beavers in both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, falling in both games by two runs.

Game 1


  • Kallista Leonardos (El Granada, Calif.) went 2-3 for Emerson, connecting on a solo home run.
  • Myranda Borque (El Cajon, Calif.) pitched a complete game, taking her first loss of the season scattering nine hits over six innings.
  • Brook Stock earned the victory for Babson striking out seven batters in the complete game.
  • Jacqueline Paul drove in two Beavers to lead Babson.  Her and Tori Roche each had two hits while Roche drove in one runner.


  • Roche drove in the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning on a single to center field.
  • Leonardos' solo home run in the top of the fourth inning knotted the score back at one.
  • Emerson took the lead at 2-1 in the top of the fifth when Mallory Shofi (Ridgefield, Conn.) reached on an error, driving in Morgan Mitchell (Riverton, Utah).
  • Paul doubled to right field in the bottom half of the frame, driving home two runners and putting Babson up 3-2.
  • The Beavers added one more run in the bottom of the sixth before closing out the game, taking the first game 4-2.

Game 2


  • Calli Pratt (Dighton, Mass.) recorded two hits for the Lions while Marisa DeFranco (Great Falls, Va.), Lexi Semanchik (Flemington, N.J.), Micaela Dix (White House Station, N.J.) and Leonardos each had one,.
  • Semanchik drove in two runs while Shofi and Leonardos each drove in one.
  • Neely Eddleston (West Wareham, Mass.) shouldered the loss pitching four innings and only allowing one earned run while striking out one batter.
  • Alex Corrigan drove in two runs for the Beavers with one hit.


  • The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Babson plated two to take a 2-0 lead.
  • The Beavers added three runs in the bottom of the fifth with Corrigan's single to right field driving home two before another runner came around on a wild pitch.
  • The Lions roared back in the top of the sixth frame, when a Leonardos double brought home Franco.  Following Leonardos was Semanchik, who homered to right field, driving in two runs and cutting the lead to 5-3.
  • After Babson added one more in the bottom of the sixth, Shofi's single cut the lead to two by driving in Dix, but the Lions' comeback bid fell short.
  • Babson took the second game of the doubleheader 6-4.


  • The Lions get back in action on Tuesday when they make up the second game of the doubleheader against Wellesley that was postponed due to weather, with first pitch slated for 4:30pm.
