GAME 1

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Emerson lanced three home runs in the game, one each from Kallista Leonardos (El Granada, Calif.) , Lindsey Lowe (Porter Ranch, Calif.) , and Micaela Dix (White House Station, N.J.).  
  • Lowe had three RBIs, Dix had two, and Leonardos has one. Leonardos scored two runs.
  • Neely Eddleston (West Wareham, Mass.) started the game for the Lions, going 5.1 innings and striking out four batters.
  • Olivia Burgos earned the win in relief, pitching five innings and striking out three batters.  Burgos also batted top of the order, scoring two runs and reaching base twice on two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emerson opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, when Lowe launched a three run home run to center field, with Marisa DeFranco (Great Falls, Va.) and Leonardos coming around to score.
  • The Lions extended their lead to 5-0 when Dix sent a ball over the right center field fence, plating Calli Pratt (Dighton, Mass.).
  • In the bottom half of the second inning, a two run single to left field plated Kerry Snedrick and Abigail Conley, cutting the lead to 5-2.
  • Leonardos' home run in the top of the third inning gave the Lions a 6-2 lead.
  • Emmanuel chipped away slowly, toting one run in the bottom of the fifth and three in the bottom of the sixth inning to knot the score at six.
  • A sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the seventh inning gave Emanuel the victory in the first game, 7-6.

GAME 2

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • DeFranco and Pratt paced the Lions with two hits a piece.  Lexi Semanchik (Flemington, N.J.), Lowe, and Leonardos each had one.
  • Pratt had two RBIs while Defranco had one.
  • Karagan Knowles shouldered the loss, striking out four batters in 2.1 innings of work.
  • Megan Kieselback took the victory, striking out 10 batters in a complete game.
  • Avery Webb led the Saints with four RBIs and two home runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lions opened the scoring in the first inning, when a Pratt single plated DeFranco and Semanchik,
  • Emmanuel got one back in the bottom half of the frame, before scoring four in bottom of the second to take a 5-2 lead.
  • Webb homered to left field in the bottom of the third, driving in three more runs for the Saints and giving Emmanuel an 8-2 lead.
  • A DeFranco single brought home Dix in the top of the fourth, but a Webb home run in the bottom of the fifth canceled out the run and gave Emmanuel their eventual winning lead at 9-3.
