The Lead: The Emerson men's soccer team shouldered its first loss of the season at the hands of three first half goals by Trinity (Conn.), 3-0, under the lights on Wednesday night in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

32": Velez-Perez buried a one-timer following a Trinity corner that bounced out of the 18-yard box and gave the hosts the 1-0 lead. 

37": It was Velez-Perez once again who boosted Trinity's lead and put Emerson in a 2-0 hole. After Mullin received a pass deep inside the six-yard box, Velez-Perez made a run for the ball and found the back of the net. 

44": Emerson came face to face with a 3-0 deficit when Cottrell scored on a run through the box and headed in a lofted ball from Velez-Perez past Kemp. 

 

UP NEXT 

  • Emerson returns to its home turf on Saturday, September 7 in a non-conference meeting with Regis (Mass.) at 1:00 p.m. 
  • Trinity (Conn.) gets back in action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as well when the Bantams host Clark.
