Women's Volleyball Unable To Hold Off Brandeis
WALTHAM, Mass. – Even while posting their second-highest dig total in three sets on the year with 60, the Emerson Women's Volleyball Team couldn't hold off the Brandeis Judges Wednesday in a 25-17, 25-19 and 25-23 loss. The Lions are now 12-8 on the year as Brandeis improves to 13-7.
Set one saw the Lions beat themselves as unforced errors ruled the game with EC putting up seven attack errors and six reception errors. The Judges capitalized on the out-of-sync Lions with their six aces and Liz Hood swinging .429 to lead them to a 25-17 win.
Round two saw the Lions pull themselves back on track, swinging .333 as a team with Kat Westbrook and Alyssa Thorne both flooring four kills each. The Judges were just a bit better though as they tied EC's offensive leaders with two flooring four as well while taking full advantage of Emerson's five service errors to snake away with a 25-19 lead.
Headed into three the Lions came back to life, this time forcing six tie scores and three lead changes along the way. Guili Frendak jumped into the fray this time with four kills, while Alyssa Thorne swatted down four as well for a .400 attack percentage. In the end, the Lions just couldn't stop Liz Hood on the offensive end for Brandeis as she knocked down six as BC just barely squeezed out the 25-23 final over Emerson.
The Lions return to action this Monday as they travel to Anna Maria for a 7 p.m. game in Paxton, Mass.
