NEWTON, Mass. – Juliana Tucker posted 25 assists on the night as three different Lions all tallied double-digits in digs en route to another sweep as Emerson Women's Volleyball topped Lasell 25-22, 25-14 and 25-20. The win improves EC to 10-7 on the year and 4-0 in the GNAC while Lasell drops to 4-15 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
Set one saw the Lasers swing a bit better than the Lions as a team, but errors bit them in the end as Alyssa Thorne led EC with four kills in the set. Jamie Morgan and Giuli Frendak single-handedly helped keep Emerson in the set as well, with five digs apiece as EC fought off three tie scores for a 25-22 win.
Set two saw the Lions separate from the pack as they dominated from the start, taking the first point and never relinquishing the lead. Alyssa Thorne led the charge again with four kills, this time as Emerson blasted a .226 attack percentage. The Emerson defense was also impenetrable, holding Lasell to a -.143 average in a 25-14 win.
Set three saw the Lions barely even let the Laser attack off the ground as Juliana Tucker, Giuli Frendak and Katie Towey were all too busy flooring three kills apiece in the set. The Lion defense was also just too tough for the Lasers to try to floor a ball on as both Brandy Eggerman and Heather Park collected six digs apiece. Jamie Morgan put up five digs of her own as well as the Lions ripped off their eight sweep of the season, four in conference play alone.
Next up, the Lions will travel to Rivier on Monday for a tri-match against the Raiders and the Emmanuel Saints. Match times start at 1 and 3 p.m. for the Lions in Nashua, N.H.
