Women's Volleyball Unable to Hold Off Amherst in 3-0 Loss

AMHERST, Mass. - The Amherst Lord Jeffs proved to be too much for the visiting Emerson Women's Volleyball Team as they fell in a tough 25-21, 25-16, 25-12 match Tuesday night at LeFrak Gymnasium. The loss moves the Lions to 4-3 on the year while Amherst holds at 3-0.

The Lions showed some life early on in the match as they gave the Lord Jeffs a bit of a run for their money in the first set. Unforced errors clipped Emerson in the end though as they pulled within four points nearing the end of the set, but Amherst's Lizzie Ahern was dominant at the net to clinch the 25-21 set.

With a first set win under their belt, Amherst looked a lot more confident in the following sets, swinging .333 as a team in the next set. The defense also stepped up with some key blocks to keep the Lions tame as the Lord Jeffs took set two 25-16.

Three was all that was in store for the night though as Emerson seemed out of sync on offense while the Jeffs stepped it up on offense. Emerson's defense tried to step up with a couple blocks on the night, but in the end it was Amherst that emerged, 25-12.

The Emerson Women's Volleyball squad will return to action this Thursday as they set to host Babson in Boston at 7:00 p.m. at Emerson's Brown-Plofker Gym.
