BOSTON – The Emerson women's soccer team looks to get back in the win column in their return to the East Coast after a pair of games in California this past weekend. The Lions will face off against Tufts at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Lions will continue their road schedule in Middletown, Conn. to meet Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.

 

LIONS IN THE SUNSHINE STATE

  • Emerson headed out to California to kick off its 2017 regular season schedule with a pair of matchups against Whittier and Chapman last weekend.
  • The Lions finished up the trip 0-2 after a 5-1 loss to the Poets on Friday night before they dropped a 3-0 decision to the Panthers on Sunday afternoon.

 

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS

  • For the second season in a row, Emerson and Tufts will face off in the Jumbos home and season opener.
  • In last season's meeting between the Lions and Jumbos, the Lions were bested 3-0 at Kraft Field on September 7, 2016.
  • The Jumbos finished 2016 with an overall record of 7-6-3 and a 5-4-1 record against NESCAC opponents, including a trip to the NESCAC Tournament where they were beaten 1-0 by Trinity (Conn.).
  • Leading Tufts during 2017 will be junior Emma Ranalli and senior Alex Scheman.

 

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS

  • Wesleyan is coming off a 2016 season where they posted an overall record of 3-9-3 and were 0-7-3 when they were facing NESCAC foes.
  • The Cardinals were 3-5-1 when at home and 0-4-2 away from Jackson Field.
  • Saturday's meeting will be the first meeting between Emerson and Wesleyan.
  • The captains for the Cardinals this season are senior Meg Hanan and juniors Lauren Goetzman and Kinsey Yost.
