Kathryn Egizi Selected To Lead Women's Lacrosse Program

BOSTON, Mass. -  Emerson Athletics has proudly named Kathryn Egizi Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse program after two successful years as an Assistant at fellow NEWMAC institution, Wellesley, in addition to an elite playing career at Union College.

On the appointment of Egizi, Athletic Director Patricia Nicol stated, "We are pleased to welcome Kathryn to the Emerson family, she brings a keen understanding of the academic and athletic demands of the NEWMAC after her time with Wellesley which will prove an asset in recruiting. I'm confident she will build upon the foundation of success left by Coach Moore."

While an Assistant Coach at Wellesley, Egizi was a major component in nearly all aspects from on-field coaching to developing team strategy while serving as a major lynchpin in the recruitment process. In her time at Wellesley, the Blue saw four All-Conference Team selections as well as a Co-Rookie of the Year Award and Wellesley's first NEWMAC Presidents Cup in 2013-2014.

In her playing career, Egizi was a four-year letter winner and standout at Union College, which saw her selected all four years to the All-Liberty League with a First Team honor, two Second Team honors as well as an Honorable Mention as well as collecting a Second Team Regional All-American accolade. A four-year starter and captain for the Dutchwomen, Egizi patrolled the midfield for Union and was continually ranked in draw controls, caused turnovers and ground balls throughout her career prior to her graduation in 2012.

Egizi is also well known as an active member of the club lacrosse scene as a coach and director with Mass Elite.

On her appointment, Egizi stated, "I could not be happier about taking over this exciting and growing program. Coach Moore left me with a group of student-athletes eager to compete and advance in the NEWMAC after the program's inaugural season in the conference. The past two years I have been lucky enough to work under and learn from Julia McPhee at Wellesley College where I experienced the thrill and cutthroat competition of NEWMAC play. I am extremely appreciative to Pat Nicol and the Emerson Athletics Administration for giving me this opportunity and entrusting me with such an important role. I look forward to working with the student-athletes and athletic department to continue building this program towards its potential."
