BOSTON, Mass. - The 2014 Emerson Women's Lacrosse Team was rewarded for their efforts this season as the NEWMAC announced the 2014 NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Awards. Included in the Awards, Meredith Weber was named Co-Rookie of the Year as well as to the All-Conference Second Team while Victoria Kanaris was named to the NEWMAC All-Conference First-Team. The team was honored as well as they were voted the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award as well.
In her rookie campaign, Weber stepped up huge for the Lions as she led Emerson in goals with 47 on the year, four of which were game-winners for the Lions. In addition she also posted eight goals while winning 59 draw controls and picking up 17 ground balls.
Victoria Kanaris also saw another huge year for the Lions between the posts where she was second in saves in the NEWMAC and first in saves percentage on the year. Amassing 141 saves on the year, Kanaris started nearly every game for the Lions in their 2014 campaign.
The awards are career and program firsts for the Lions in their inaugural season in the NEWMAC.
