Three Hat Tricks Send Women's Lacrosse Past UMaine-Farmington

BOSTON, Mass. – Hat tricks from Kanika Misra, Alex Corrado and Guerin Morissette paved the way Wednesday afternoon as Gabi Cohen also picked up her first collegiate win as the Emerson Women's Lacrosse Team topped UMaine Farmington 14-4. With the win the Lions are now 7-3 on the year as UMF falls to 2-3.

The first half saw the Beavers snag the first score of the game as Ayla Allen went unassisted to open it up. Emerson quickly fired back though with three goals from Alex Corrado, Meredith Weber and Tayllar Righini letting EC take the 3-1 lead.

UMF's Rhi Jackson put in another goal but EC wasn't about to sit back as they fired off five unanswered goals this time with Guerin Morissette and Kanika Misra getting in on the action to make it 8-3 at the half.

The second half saw more dominance from the Lions as they beat the Beavers in shots and ground balls with EC's Gabi Cohen stepping up for eight saves in the half as she allowed but one goal in the half.

The Lions went on a tear offensively with six more goals in the half; two more from Alex Corrado and Guerin Morrisette while Kanika Misra and Maggie Sheetz jumped in on the action as well before UMF capitalized on a yellow card to finish the game with a 14-4 final.

The Lions will gear up for more NEWMAC action this weekend as they set to host Wheaton on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match set in Boston at Rotch Field.
