Lacrosse's Chelsea Phillips Named To The IWLCA All-Region Second Team

BOSTON, Mass. -     Junior midfielder, Chelsea Phillips was honored by the IWLCA as an All-Region Second Team selection for 2013. The selected athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 9. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on May 24, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Head Coach Megan Moore commented on the honor stating, "This is a very well deserved honor for Chelsea, and puts her in the company of Division III's highest caliber players. We talked a lot about her goals early on this season, and I don't think she imagined herself as an All-Region player, but the talent and drive was definitely there. Her impact on the team went beyond leading in almost every statistical category. Our team rose to a higher level when she was on the field, and that's what makes her a leader."

The honor is the first of Phillips' career, as she put up a huge year, leading the Lions with 67 goals on the year, ranking her second in the GNAC while posting 11 assists on the year, second on the Emerson squad. In addition, she led EC with 69 draw controls and 50 ground balls on the season en route to a second place regular season finish in GNAC play.
