Chelsea Phillips Lights Up Rivier For Six Goals In 13-7 Win

BOSTON, Mass. – Chelsea Phillips lit it up for six goals Wednesday night as the Emerson Women's Lacrosse Team added another win to their tally with a 13-7 win over the visiting Rivier Raiders. With the win the Lions are now 7-6 on the year and 4-2 in conference play while Rivier falls to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the GNAC.

The first half saw the Raiders jump onto the board first as Rebecca Wickens dropped in a goal five minutes in to take a 1-0 lead. Chelsea Phillips gave RU only 24 seconds to enjoy it though as she started the first of her three straight goals in under five minutes to give EC the 3-1 lead.

The first half continued to be a scoring spree after that for both teams after Rivier added a goal in the 10th minute before the Lions spread the offensive wealth with Tayllar Righini, Tracie Lombardo and Mackenzie Johnson all adding a goal to make it 6-2.

Rivier rallied back a bit though to make a game of it as they put up a hat trick of their own in the next 11 minutes to bring it to 6-5. Mackenzie Johnson stepped up again for EC though depositing a FPS with 44 seconds left and then adding a buzzer beater before the half to make it 8-5.

The second half started the same as the first with Riv cutting the lead to two with a goal by Elena Reilly. EC went on another offensive tear though as they rattled off four straight with two from Chelsea Phillips and one each from Tayllar Righini and Alex Corrado.

The Raiders looked deflated by the end though as they added one last goal before Chelsea Phillips went unassisted again for number six on the night to close it out 13-7.

EC returns to action this Saturday as they set to host GNAC rival Emmanuel at 1 p.m. in Boston at Rotch Field.
