Women's Basketball Fall To Clark 52-42
BOSTON, Mass. – Kristin Brice's 18 points and seven rebounds weren't enough Wednesday night as the Emerson Women's Basketball Team fell 52-42 to the visiting Clark Cougars in NEWMAC action. With the loss Emerson is now 5-8 overall and 2-7 in NEWMAC action while the Cougars improve to 6-8 on the year and 3-6 in conference play.
The first half saw both teams take a second to click in on offense with the Lions shooting 27% from the floor and the Cougars shooting 24% in field goals. Kristin Brice led the floor for Emerson with eight points, going 4-for-7 with three rebounds and a steal to keep EC in it.
The Cougars spread more of the offense in the half with seven different Clark players putting up points in the half with Brooke Brennan leading CU with five of her own. Clark made the most of their seven forced turnovers as well to grab four points en route to heading into the break up 21-19.
The second half saw turnovers bite the Lions again Clark forced 11 for 12 points in the half. Emily Reilly led the Cougars with 12 points while Esther Cohn collected four of CU's 11 offensive boards for seven additional points. EC's saw Brice take on the Lion share with 10 points of her own, but the effort fell short as Clark took the 52-42 win.
Next up the Lions will travel this Saturday to continue NEWMAC play where they'll face the Smith Pioneers at 1 p.m. in Northhampton, Mass.
