Women's Basketball Stopped By Claremont-Mudd-Scripts
CLAREMONT, Calif. – Kristin Brice led the way again for the Emerson Women's Basketball Team Sunday afternoon with 12 points and eight rebounds in a tough 71-44 loss to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas. With the loss Emerson is now 4-6 overall as CMS improves to 2-8 on the year.
The first half saw the Lions come out sluggish on offense, putting up only 28% in field goals. The Athenas pounced on the opportunity to build a lead as Madeline Barnes put up 16 points in the half alone.
The Lions found trouble in ball control as well with 14 turnovers costing the Lions 13 points in the half as CMS edged away with a 35-17 lead at the half.
The second half saw the Lions settle into their offense a little more while stepping up their D to slow down the CMS assault. Kristin Brice picked it up again with eight points for the Lions as Elissa Chojnicki and Sienna O'Han put up five apiece.
This time around the Athenas split the scoring duties a bit more as Madeline Barnes and Aria Krumwiede put up 11 each in the half. While the EC bench put in work with 14 points for the Lions, CMS matched that tally off of turnovers as they finished off the 71-44 win.
Next up, the Lions will wrap their L.A. trip facing off against Occidental Wednesday night. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. ET.
