PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Kristin Brice and Catherine Cloutier combined for37 points on the night as the Emerson Women's Basketball closed out the first half of the 2012-2013 season with a 70-56 win over Plymouth State. With the win the Lions are now 3-6 on the year as PSU falls to 1-7 overall.
The first half saw the Lions drain 46% in field goals with Kristin Brice going 4-11 with eight points to lead the Lions. Where the Lions dominated was in the paint as Catherine Cloutier jumped in for seven points with the height doing the talking for EC.
Krystin Corliss led PSU and the floor with 13 points while the Falcon's defense proved tough as they forced 10 turnovers which cost EC 12 points in the half. The Lions solid offense overall was enough to hold the line though as they went into the half up 30-27.
The second half saw the forwards dominate again as Cloutier and Brice both posted 11 points each in the half while Kelsey Johnson chipped away with seven of her own. The defense stepped up as well, bringing down 21 boards in the half, nine on offense, giving EC 12 second chance points to edge away.
The Falcons weren't able to keep pace as well, even with Corliss putting up 17 in the half as EC's was just dominant in the paint with 32 points up close and personal as the Lions rolled off with a 70-56 win.
EC will take a quick break for the holidays before they head to Los Angeles for games against Caltech on Dec. 29 and Occidental on January 2.
