Fitchburg State Slips Past Women's Basketball 61-59

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Another double-double effort from Kristin Brice saw the Emerson Women's Basketball Team fall just shy Saturday afternoon in a tough 61-59 loss to Fitchburg State. With the loss, Emerson falls to 2-6 overall while the Falcons improve to 3-4.

The first half of action saw Kristin Brice jump out with eight points and six boards as the Lions scrapped back-and-forth with the Falcons. The Lions couldn't seem to hold Fitchburg State in the paint though as they dominated EC with 14 points in the paint to Emerson's zero.

Shannon Norton also stepped up to help the Lions with six points in the half, dropping two threes on the Falcons, but EC couldn't hold Amy Fahey who led the floor with 10 points and Kristen Enright with nine. Heading into the half, the Lions trailed only by three with a 30-27 halftime score.

The Lions stormed back in the second half, hitting 41% in field goals as Elissa Chojnicki led the way with 10 points, nine in threes alone. Kristin Brice followed suit with nine points of her own. In the end though the Lions just couldn't surge enough to top the Falcons as the game was lost on turnovers with Emerson giving up nine in the half for 14 points as FSU edged away with the 61-59 win.

The Lions will finish out the first half of their season this Tuesday as they set to travel to Plymouth State for a 7 p.m. tip-off in Plymouth, N.H.
