Men's Cross Country Finishes Eighth in NEWMAC Championship

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Institute of Technology made it two decades of dominance, claiming their 20th consecutive NEWMAC Cross Country Championship title on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Park.

The top-three finishers of the 8k all came from MIT, as did seven of first nine runners. MIT took first place, totaling 18 points. Second in the team competition was WPI with 71 points. In third was Coast Guard with 85 points. Babson finished fourth with 89 points while fifth place went to Springfield with 122 points. Sixth place went to Wheaton with 180 points, seventh to Clark with 201, and Emerson rounded out the field of eight teams with 233 points.

Engineers junior Dennis Maloney took home first place with his time of 25:03, earning him the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year. Teammates Josh Rosenkranz (25:32) and Alex Knoedler (25:48) rounded out the top-three. MIT's freshman Jake Oeding finished 17th with a time of 26:35 for NEWMAC Rookie of the Year.
