Men's Soccer Shutout by Beavers, 2-0

BOSTON - Beavers junior Noah Parker (Hampden, Maine) netted his second goal of the season in the 22nd minute, providing all the offense the Beavers would need in their 2-0 victory over the Emerson Lions on Saturday afternoon at Rotch Field in NEWMAC play.

Parker was played in on a pass by Chris Czarnecki (Baltimore, Md.) and from eight yards out, Parker fired his shot over the head of Lions keeper Lucas Fischer (Atlanta, Ga.) for the opening tally of the match.

The Beavers doubled the lead just before halftime on a goal by freshman Samuel Lalor (Washington, D.C.), the first of his career.

Junior Cole Farrey (Burlington, Conn.) sent in a cross from the left wing to the Lions back post where Lalor poked the ball past Fischer for a 2-0 advantage.

The Lions best opportunity of the afternoon came about 30 minutes into the contest when sophomore Gavin Faucette (Oakland, Calif.) fired a shot from 30-yards out, just over the crossbar.

Beavers senior keeper James Takami (Kenmore, Wash.) made four saves on the afternoon, recording his second clean sheet of the season and improving to 4-5. Fischer also finished the match with four saves, falling to 1-3-1.

The victory is the first in the NEWMAC this season for the Beavers, who sit at 6-5 (1-3 NEWMAC). The Lions fall to 4-7-1 (0-4 NEWMAC) following the loss.

The Lions return to action following a week off as they travel to Springfield College for a noon kickoff next Saturday. The Beavers return to play tomorrow for a non-conference match at Eastern Conn. State at 4:00 p.m.
