The Lead: On Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Salem, Mass., the Emerson men's soccer team dropped a 6-0 setback to the Salem State Vikings in non-conference mens's soccer action. 



  • Emerson and Salem State were even with nine shots each and both teams had a pair of corner kick opportunities.
  • Sophomore Gavin Faucette (Oakland, Calif.) connected for a team-high four shots. 
  • In the net for Emerson was freshman goalie David Kemp (London, England), who came away with two stops and allowed six goals within 90 minutes. 
  • Mayele Malango and Peter Mayhorn notched two goals a piece, while Ryan Smith and Grace Dos Santos added an additional one goal each for the Vikings. 
  • Nahuel Aligbay and Malango were each credited with an assist.
  • Salem State net minder Chris Jimenez locked up the win for the Vikings and went a perfect six for six on shot attempts and allowed zero goals.



  • Emerson found themselves trailing by a pair of goals at the end of the first 45 minutes of the game. 
  • Malango put Salem State on the board at 11:39 with his first goal of the game on a penalty kick opportunity. 
  • Three minutes later, Dos Santos pushed the Vikings ahead 2-0 at 14:39 with the assist credited to Malango. 
  • Despite being down two goals, Emerson outshot Salem State, 7-2. 
  • The Vikings put the game away within the second half as four nets made their way past Kemp to lock the score at 6-0. 
  • Aligbay set up Malango for his second net in the 46th minute to lift Salem State to a 3-0 advantage over the Lions. 
  • After Smith helped the Vikings set the Lions back four goals in the 62nd minute of the second half (62:42), Mayhorn sealed the win for Salem State with a pair of goal in the 74th and 78th minutes. 



  • Emerson close out the weekend tomorrow, Sunday, September, 10 at 4:00 p.m. against Fisher in a non conference contest at Rotch Field. 
  • Salem State continues its home schedule on Tuesday, September 12 against Connecticut College at 7:00 p.m.
