BOSTON, Mass. – An electric goal off a header by Lucas Parolin coupled with Jacob Lawrence's fifth goal on the year highlighted the day as the Emerson Men's Soccer Team took a 2-0 win from Emmanuel Saturday afternoon. With the win EC moves to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in GNAC play while Emmanuel drops to 3-7-2 on the year and 2-5 in conference play.
Both teams looked to be evenly matched for the game, as Emmanuel put up eight shot to Emerson's seven in the first half, though the Lions found themselves making the Saints defense work for it, putting six on goal in the half. While Emmanuel's Garrett Charette put up five saves through the first 45, he couldn't stop a goal off a throw in that found Juan Ossa's head for an assist to Lucas Parolin for his first goal of the season.
Coming out of the break up 1-0, the Lions found their efforts thwarted by the Saints as they put up eight shots, with Charette collecting seven saves in the half this time around. In the end, the Saints wore down in the 72nd minute as Evan Gooden found Jacob Lawrence off a cross from the left side that found nylon to make it 2-0.
The Lions continue their GNAC campaign this Monday as they travel to Rivier to face the Raiders in a 1 p.m. start in Nashua, N.H.
