Basketball's Bilali Mack Named VMA Outstanding Senior for New Media

BOSTON, Mass. – Emerson Athletics is proud to announce that Men's Basketball senior, Bilali Mack has been named the VMA's Outstanding Senior for New Media as selected by the New Media Faculty in VMA.

The award is voted on by faculty members and is bestowed upon a graduating senior that has exemplified and exceeded the expectations of Emerson's Visual and Media Arts Department.

Shortly after hearing about his award, Mack reached out to Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim O'Brien with the news while thanking him for everything that O'Brien has done.

Mack has spoken on important figures in his life stating, "My mother and my brother Sheikh have been integral figures in my life as well as my coaches: Ken Smith, Hank Smith and Jim O'Brien. All of my teachers and professors have all helped in one way or another over the years in helping to guide me in the right direction. Right now, I work in the Digital Production Lab and my co-workers Allison Sherlock, Kim and Chrissy have all been mentors both career and life-wise as well."

Emerson Athletics would like to congratulate Bilali in his accomplishment and for all he has done with his commitment to the Emerson Basketball Program. A ceremony to present the honor to him will be held May 7 at 1 p.m. in the Bright Family Screening Room.
