Men's Basketball Unable To Fend Off SJM in 75-53 Loss
BOSTON, Mass. – Nicholas Jobin of Saint Joseph's of Maine dropped 21 points on the day as the Emerson Men's Basketball Team fell 75-53 to close out the 2012 home season. With the loss Emerson falls to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference while SJM improves to 5-2 on the year and 2-1 in the GNAC.
The first half saw the Lions emerge sluggish as EC could only muscle up 22 points in the half while turnovers proved costly. On Emerson's 14 turnovers in the half, SJM put up 16 points, which they matched in the paint with Nichlas Jobin putting up 13 and Zach Blodgett dropping 11 as SJM went into the half up 41-22.
The second half saw the Lions settle down more on offense as James Rhodes jumped into action to drop six points with two quick threes to help bolster EC. The Lion bench also stepped up to put up 27 points in the half, but couldn't seem to contain the Monks on offense. SJM's Matthew Medeiros dropped nine while Jobin and Simonds put up eight each en route to a 75-53 final.
The Lions will head into a brief hibernation for winter break before heading out to Los Angeles to face Redlands and Occidental Dec. 30 and Jan 2.
