The Great Northeast Athletic Conference honored 95 Emerson College student-athletes on Monday with its release of the 2012–2013 Academic All-Conference Team. The honor is given to student-athletes of at least sophomore status who maintained a GPA of 3.25 or above while competing for a GNAC member institution during the academic year.
This year, the GNAC honored 757 student-athletes from 13 full-time and 12 affiliate member institutions, surpassing last year’s list by more than 100. Emerson recorded the highest number of honorees of all GNAC institutions for the third consecutive year, followed by Johnson & Wales University with 72 honorees and St. Joseph’s College of Maine with 70 honorees. The 95 Emerson honorees are spread among 14 varsity teams.
The 2012–2013 season marks the last year of competition in the GNAC for all sports except Men’s Volleyball. Thirteen of Emerson’s varsity teams will begin their first year of competition in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference this fall.
